The whereabouts of the DRG Class 85
All locomotives of the DR series 85 were assigned to the Bahnbetriebswerk Freibug. Their application was limited permanently to the Black Forest Railway. During the Second World War, however, the 85 400 was destroyed. By changes of the German Federal Railroad eight locomotives of the steam locomotive DRG Class 85 were retired on 29 May 1961. On December 4, the same year they were followed by the locomotive 85 007th Today, only the seventh locomotive class 85 in the depot of the city of Freiburg in Breisgau. The locomotive is received by a railway social work group, but not operational. The trainability of the locomotives of the steam locomotive DRG Class 85 differed greatly depending on the application. As a freight train in the plane at a speed of 50 km/h, up to 1,970 tonnes of wagon train dimensions could be carried. With an increase of 10 ‰, the locomotives achieved 405 tonnes at 50 km/h. With an increase of 25 ‰ they pulled at 25 km/h still 380 t. On routes with 55.5 ‰ increase and 20 km/h at least 165 t were still transportable to wagon train dimensions.
