Steam locomotives, electric locomotives, diesel locomotives and much more
Welcome to Eisenbahnfreunde Berlin, the railway encyclopaedia. Here you will find information on the steam locomotive, diesel locomotive, electric locomotive and railcar series. In addition, we inform you about dates for special trips and events, such as railway festivals and the like. Furthermore, you will learn interesting facts about the function of a steam locomotive and about the signal images, as well as about safety systems and much more.
This encyclopaedia is constantly being expanded so that the largest collection focusing on railways should be created here. We also welcome support of any kind. Whether on the website Eisenbahnfreunde Berlin or in our blog. You can contact us via our contact form and of course send us suggestions for changes or express criticism and wishes. We look forward to your messages.
Steam Locomotives
In this section of the encyclopaedia you will find the different steam locomotive series. The locomotives are divided into express locomotives (S | 01 – 19), passenger locomotives (P | 20 – 39) freight locomotives (G | 40 – 59), express and passenger tender locomotives (St u. Pt | 80 – 79), freight tender locomotives (Gt | 80 – 96), and narrow gauge locomotives (K | 99). Of course, the legendary express train series 01 & 03, as well as the world record locomotives Class 05 and Class 18 201 are also included.
Diesel Locomotives
Diesel locomotive fans are at home in this section of the encyclopaedia, whether small diesel locomotives or large diesel locomotives. Diesel locomotives such as the BR V 100 of the DB or DR, as well as the Class V 200 are included. With regard to the class V 100, one learns a lot about the conversions or modernisations, as well as about the conversion to narrow gauge. In addition, there is also interesting information on diesel locomotives that came to the DR (Deutsche Reichsbahn of the GDR 1945 – 1993) from Russia or Romania through the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.
Electric Locomotives
In the electric locomotive section, both the oldest and the one or other newer series are represented. Among others, the E 40, the BR 101, the BR 103 and many other interesting electric locomotives are included. Electric locomotives of the former Deutsche Reichsbahn, such as the current container, class 155, are also included.
